When you sign up for kratai, we collect the information provided by your chosen sign-in method (Google or GitHub): your email address, display name, and profile photo. We also collect the answers you give to our two onboarding questions — your years of coding experience and the type of apps you build — so we can prioritize what to build.
We use this information to manage your account and AI credit, to contact you about the service (for example, important changes or credit expiring), and to understand our early users so we can build the right features first. We also keep a record of your AI credit balance and how it is spent (which feature was used and what it cost) so we can show it to you and keep it accurate. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
The desktop app's AI features (generating a use case model or data model, the chat, and the new-project wizard) work by sending content from your computer to kratai's servers, which pass it to a third-party AI provider to produce the answer. Today that provider is Google (the Gemini API); we may change or add providers as the product evolves. Depending on the feature, the content sent can include summaries of your code's structure (names of classes, functions, routes, and data entities), the use case model and data model in your spec, your chat messages, what you type into the new-project wizard, and — when you ask the chat about your code — the contents of project files it reads to answer you (it does not read files that look like secrets, such as .env files).
We do not store this content in our database. For each AI request we keep only a usage record — which feature was used, which model, how many tokens, and what it cost — so we can keep your credit balance accurate. The AI provider processes the content under its own terms and privacy policy. Opening a project and browsing its class diagram happens on your computer and does not send your code anywhere, and your spec files stay in your project folder. Please don't point kratai at code you aren't allowed to share with a third-party service.
We use Google and GitHub only as sign-in providers to authenticate you — we don't receive or store your password from either service. Your account and profile data are stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication). We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this website in aggregate.
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Promotional AI credit expires 30 days after you sign up (see our User Agreement), and any unused balance is removed from your account after that date; this does not close your account. If you'd like your data deleted at any time, email us at tai@kratai.com and we'll remove it.

kratai is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do.
